National Pool Lifeguard Qualification

The Royal Lifesaving Society's, National Pool Lifeguard Qualification (N.P.L.Q.) will teach you both the practical and theoretical skills to work as a lifeguard.
A minimum hourly requirement is expected for you to achieve the qualification, so attendance on each day of the course is compulsory.
Before commencing the NPLQ qualification each new candidate must meet the following requirements:
Must be 16 years of age prior to commencing a course of training and be able to meet the following basic fitness criteria:
1. Jump/dive into deep water - swim 50 metres in no more than 60 seconds.
2. Swim 100 metres continuously on front and back in deep water, tread water for 30 seconds.
3. Surface dive to the floor of the pool (3.35 metres deep).
4. Climb out unaided without ladder/steps and where the pool design permits.
